



Dr. Matthew H. Kalter is a physical
medicine& rehabilitation physician
and pain management specialist
who joined Suffolk Orthopaedic
Associates in September of 2007.
Dr. Kalter believes proper diagnosis
is the key to providing effective
treatment. Treatment is performed
through a multi-modal approach
which includes lifestyle changes,
physical therapy, ultrasound,
TENS,massage, manipulation,
medications, and interventonal
techniques.

Dr. Kalter is a fellowship-trained interventional physiatrist. He is a Long
Island native who completed his undergraduate studies at Muhlenberg
College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kalter went on to pursue his dream
and complete his medical education at Ross University School of Medicine
performing clinical duties in hospitals throughout the tri-state metropolitan
area. He completed his internship in the discipline of internal medicine
at the New York Hospital of Queens of Weill-Cornell University. He went on to
study Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Physiatry) which is the study of
musculoskeletal disorders at the State University of New York at Stony
Brook. He continued on for additional subspecialty training in pain medicine
at the Center for Pain Medicine & Rehabilitation in Annapolis, Maryland.
There he learned the newest technologies for the control of neck and back
pain. Dr. Kalter has licenses to practice medicine in both New York and
Maryland. He joined Suffolk Orthopaedic Associates in September, 2007. He
is actively involved in teaching prospective and current physicians and
lectures extensively.
